New work for @thisartfair - on show at the @torchgallery booth. Clovers from the decontaminated ground of Fukushima. (so it's safe) Yesterday. First dinner with friends of the TINKEBELL. foundation. www.tinkebellfoundation.nl πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–was heartwarming! On painting. And on art. #wisewords #vampirediaries *CUTE* (one out of five) consists of 400 individual childrens portraits printed on used childrens handkerchiefs.
The work was made in the year 2002 after seeing a documentary on the abuse of children in the Netherlands. Statistics showed that one out of five children are or have been abused or mistreated.
According to these numbers 80 of the 400 children in this piece are the victims of child abuse. It is impossible to see which are the ones. - Now on show at #asmartgirlispreparedforherfuture at @vriendvanbavink In the year 2007 I went to Beijing. Every day I passed a huge market with so many stalls it would take me at least 3 hours to see them all. At that market, there was an old man trying to sell animals. Every day. ο»ΏHe had a bike loaded with small cages. They were filled with tiny animals from crickets to birds and rabbits and sometimes puppies. At first it made me angry, but after observing him for a while I found out that he was actually really kind to these animals.
Unlike all the other sellers at the market he seemed a bit lonely and I never saw him with customers. The only thing I saw him doing was taking care of his animals. ο»Ώ
I decided I wanted to save him. I wanted to give him the thing that would wanted to have if I were in his situation, but then with my own background. I had five days left until I had to leave Beijing.

Back home, every week I went out for tea with cake with my best friend.
So, at the first day I searched for a baker and asked him to bake a cake. I brought the cake to the market. Handed it over to the old man. I didn't say a word and just left.

The man wore the same clothes every day. That's why at the second day I brought him new clothes. I handed them over to him, took a photo and left without saying a word.

At the third day I bought him a huge pink teddybear. I actually wanted to buy it for myself, but I was not able to bring it back home on the plane. While sitting in the taxi with the teddybear on my way to the market the female taxidriver started to laugh: 'You are the girl who brings presents to the old man every day! Everybody at the market is talking about you!' The taxidriver walked with me to the man when I handed him the teddybear. He started talking with her and she told me that he wanted to give me something back. He offered me a cage with crickets. I refused and walked away.

On the fourth day I asked a barber to bring all her equipments to the market to shave the old man and give him a haircut. Again, I didn't say a word. Back in the days.. (2012) My ex husband had a cat named Pacey. This is her catch. In one month. These are human bones and they are unidentified. They are from the ground of the collapsed Rana Plaza building in Savar, Bangladesh, and part of our exhibition #asmartgirlispreparedforherfuture at @vriendvanbavink Back in the days.. yes, I did masturbate in class once.. (Made my own t-shirt collection with texts I found at barely legal porn websites) Yay, look who visited my exhibition today! ❀️❀️❀️ @pieterhilhorst - #asmartgirlispreparedforherfuture at @vriendvanbavink (with @broekmanbarbara!) HOLY FUCK IT'S GETTING REAL!! *staat in de voorjaarscatalogus van @atlascontact* #hetgevaarvanangst Meanwhile at my #wonderland studio: testing new techniques and materials. This combination of works of @broekmanbarbara (left) and me, TINKEBELL. (right) makes me shizzle. The work of Barbara is a woven image that was made after the Rana Plaza disaster on April 24 2013. 1138 people were killed after a huge building with clothing factories collapsed in Savar, Bangladesh. My work was made after I visited the the ground of Rana Plaza one year after. At that time they had stopped searching for victims bodies, but there were still 200 missing. The scene was covered in brand labels, pieces of textile, all kind of materials and human body parts.. The families of victims gave me some of the human bones that were found there and they begged me to bring them home to show the world what was going on there in the fashion industry. I did. And that's what you see here. Framed, together with some brand labels found between the bones. Next to the woven image that shows it all. - Come visit our exhibition #asmartgirlispreparedforherfuture at @vriendvanbavink Open Wed-Sat 1-6 pm till January 12. Yesterday.
